Cartoon Network 2016 Year In Review

During 2016, Cartoon Network has been airing new shows, new episodes and even new channels in some countries, so here’s a timeline of some of the major events that have happened around the world in the last twelve months. Note: Some dates are not exactly accurate, but was approximately around that time or it was the date when news was publicly announced.

January

1st January: Cartoon Network Southeast Asia rebranded to Check It 4.0.

4th January: Cartoon Network Latin America and Brazil rebranded to Check It 4.0.

6th January: Cartoon Network USA releases Twelve Forever pilot/minisode.

7th January: Mark Eyers Promoted To Senior Vice President Of Cartoon Network Asia-Pacific.

14th January: Cartoon Network USA premieres first stop-motion animated Adventure Time episode: Bad Jubies.

14th January: Transformers: Robots in Disguise Season 2 announced.

25th January: New Bob The Builder series premiered on Cartoonito UK.

25th January: Daniel González becomes new general director Of Turner Iberia.

29th January: Justice League Action officially announced.

February

1st February: Lego Nexo Knights premieres on Cartoon Network UK.

3rd February: The Amazing World of Gumball, Teen Titans Go!, Ninjago, Steven Universe Nominated For Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

6th February: NBA And Cartoon Network USA Team Up For Annual NBA All-Star Jam, with a brand new Basketball themed episodes of We Bare Bears and Teen Titans Go!

6th February: Bunnicula premiered on Cartoon Network USA.

11th February: Toonami France Launched.

15th February: Cartoon Network USA released intro to the new Powerpuff Girls series, animated by Golden Wolf based in London, UK.

22nd February: Cartoon Network feeds across EMEA acquire Yo-Kai Watch broadcasting rights.

24th February: DC Super Hero Girls Special Announced.

14th March: The Powerpuff Girls 2016 reboot world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
